  1. Job Purpose

Direct, oversee, maintain and ensure the acquisition and conservation of the tangible movable heritage, culture and art collections for their long-term preservation while monitoring the planning and operations of collections assets and their development.

 

  1. Key Duties and Responsibilities

Functional Responsibilities

Oversee the research and content development for the arts and culture collections that are acquired and managed in the collections department and support the content publications and data management.

Participate, plan, and execute arts, culture and heritage collections conservation and care activities and manage materials and equipment required to undertake conservation work in RCU.

Manage the design, planning and operations of collections assets, (e.g. ACF, repositories, laboratories, archaeological deposits, including human remains, etc.) while monitoring their development and maintenance.

Oversee the development of audience engagement material and content for collections, including the interpretation of collections and the development of informative scripts of movable heritage assets.

Direct and monitor the rights of RCU’s collections and set the policies and processes for the collections use in exhibitions and museums in accordance with KSA Law to ensure that RCU interests are protected at all times.

Manage the registration and maintain a physical and digital registrar and library of RCU’s collections, and maintain the archiving of collections, chance finds, movable antiquity register, repository for archaeological deposits, including human remains, collections care, and transportation actions.

Monitor the planning and execution of arts, culture and heritage collections and movable assets acquisitions and transportation including collections shipping and storage, valuation and insurance as well as incoming and outgoing loans and exhibitions support.

Managerial Responsibilities

Contribute to the sector’s short- and long-term strategy from the Department's perspective in line with RCU overall vision and mission.

Develop the Department's strategy, objectives, KPIs annual operational plans and ensure plan execution is meeting the targets.

Prepare and submit the Department's annual budget for approval taking all planned activities and necessary investments into consideration by monitoring the financial performance.

Oversee the development, maintenance, implementation and adherence of the department policies and procedures as well as the overall performance of the department and ensure KPI’s are well developed, cascaded, communicated, and monitored.

Ensure effective staffing, professional development, and deployment of staff of the sector in consultation with the Sector Executive

Direct the Department's connection to its customers, whether internal or external, to ensure customer needs are met effectively.
