Job Purpose

The role holder is responsible for ensuring the technical compliance, operational integrity, and readiness of astronomical assets, including telescopes, instruments, domes, and supporting facilities. This includes designing and implementing compliance frameworks, verifying engineering and architectural outputs, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to address design and operational gaps.

Functional Responsibilities

  • Design compliance and integrity plans for telescopes, instruments, and associated facilities to ensure alignment with RCU and industry standards.
  • Verify architectural and engineering designs against astronomy-specific functional requirements and dark-sky compliance standards.
  • Assess technical specifications for telescopes, mounts, domes, and supporting infrastructure to confirm suitability for intended scientific and operational use.
  • Coordinate with designers, engineers, and astronomers to resolve identified technical or design discrepancies, ensuring optimal asset functionality.
  • Inspect vendor and contractor deliverables to guarantee compliance with contractual scope, technical specifications, and quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of design reviews, approvals, technical modifications, and compliance audits for reference and traceability.
  • Identify potential risks related to asset design, construction, or operation and recommend mitigation measures or scope adjustments.
  • Plan post-commissioning calibration, preventive maintenance schedules, and performance monitoring processes to ensure long-term operational reliability.
  • Prepare readiness and compliance reports for management and stakeholders to support informed decision-making.
  • Contribute to the integration of astro-tourism and public engagement spaces into technical designs to enhance visitor experience while maintaining scientific standards.
  • Perform any other job-related duties required by the direct manager

Academic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree (Master's Degree Preferred) in Astronomy, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline

Work Experience

  • 5 Years

Other Requirements

  • Written and Oral proficiency of Arabic and English languages.
  • Excellent communication skills.
