  1. Job Purpose

Lead the development of cultural resource management strategies, protocols, guidelines, policies and regulations, and ensure compliance once these are established.  Produce high quality written, photographic and drawn conservation records as required. Support the development of RCU as an organization of best practice with regards to cultural heritage management, and champion excellence and innovation in the field.


  1. Key Duties and Responsibilities

Functional Responsibilities


Provide inputs in the development of the vision, objectives, strategies, protocols and action plans for cultural heritage assessments, considering features, monuments, sites, areas, landscapes, and places of cultural significance  of AlUla County.


Review and evaluation of Heritage Impact Assessment reports, and propose recommendations, mitigation measures and/or monitor project implementation.


Provide recommendations and operational support for temporary event and projects in AlUla.


Liaise with project managers, contractors and vendors, in the implementation of RCU protocols and procedures.


Lead the monitoring of all preventive, interceptive, and emergency conservation programmes and initiatives, and actively collaborate to create a prioritization schedule for cultural heritage sites in AlUla.


Support the development of strategies and actions with County Operations for the security of heritage sites that are not activated for visitors.


Lead in monitoring site conservation work in accordance with international best practice.


Conduct site visits and monitoring of works as required and evaluate technical briefs, specifications for mitigating potential damage to urban heritage assets, and conduct monitoring as required. 


Perform any other job-related duties as required by the direct line-manager.
