  1. Job Purpose

Manage the big data generated by the archaeological, conservation and research projects in AlUla, Khaybar and Tayma, curating a varied range of data formats commonly used in heritage. Design and lead heritage data management and sharing strategies, ensure digital conservation and sustainability. Support RCU’s strategy of preserving and activating the rich heritage in the County of AlUla, especially assisting the work of Planning, Master planning, Development and Tourism, and other RCU departments as needed by making heritage data available to various stakeholders.

 

  1. Key Duties and Responsibilities

Functional Responsibilities

1

Develop the vision, objectives, strategies and action plans for data collection, storage, conservation and distribution.

Develop policies for data sharing between different projects, teams etc.

Lead compliance with IT and Cybersecurity policies.

4

Lead communication between managers in the department, explaining the RCU laws, regulations, standards, policies and procedures on data to related parties and ensuring compliance.

Develop guidelines on data sustainability and optimisation at all stages (collection to storage to distribution).

Lead the linking of existing archaeological objects databases to archaeological sites/features database, working with the Collections department and IT department.

Lead communication between IT and GIS departments and the Archaeology Survey Manager to embed the current heritage database (Arches) and GIS data in the RCU system.

Support the Archaeology Survey Manager in duties related to the management of the Arches database.

Identify the Kingdom Institute’s needs for expertise, hardware and software and develop the projects and operations and budgets for the annual plan.

Perform any other job-related duties as required by the direct manager.

Managerial Responsibilities

1

Provide input to the sector’s strategy from the Department's or Section's perspective in line with RCU overall vision and mission.

Develop the Department's or Section's objectives, KPIs, annual operational plans and ensure plan execution is meeting the targets

3

Contribute to the preparation of the Department's or Section's annual budget and monitor the financial performance of the Department or Section.

Implement and execute the Department's or Section's policies and procedures. Oversee the overall performance of the section and ensure KPI’s are well developed, cascaded, communicated and monitored.

Ensure effective staffing, professional development and deployment of staff of the Department or Section in consultation with the Sector Executive or (Executive) Director.
