Soil and Desertification Control Senior Specialist Job

1. Job Purpose

Leading soil improvement and desertification control practices in ecological restoration and vegetation development projects. Conducting soil survey and assessment of land degradation. Development of best practices of soil conservation.

2. Key Duties and Responsibilities

Functional Responsibilities

1

Participate in field pedological work and soil survey and soil sampling for implementing baseline studies in ecological restoration and vegetation development projects.

Develop and implement soil improvement and desertification control practices to support ecological restoration and vegetation development projects.

Assessment of land degradation level and develop plan and projects for Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN) at AlUla.

4

Analyze large datasets of soils surveys and contibute to the use of soils data and maps in ecosystem restoration projects at AlUla nature reserves and beynod.

Process and analyze remote sensing data and GIS maps for soil and habitat types to identify suitable land areas for afforestation, vegetation development, and ecological restoration projects.

Identify and develop monitoring indicators for soil restoration and preservation such as carbon sequestration within the soils.

Identify and develop monitoring indicators and mesaures for soil restoration and preservation such as carbon sequestration within the soils.

Lead the development and dissemination of information and knowledge products for soil and desertification control.

Participate in the development of best practices and nature based soultions for soil conservation and ecosystem restoration.

10

Contribute in develop environmentally safe methods or products for controlling  invisive species in natural ecosystems.

Develep and submit monthly and annual reports to the administration/department.

Perform any other job related duties as required by the direct Manager.
